    Hello, my name is Joe Daughtery and I believe there are great things just around the corner for Wayne County. That is why I'd like to introduce myself and ask for your support by voting me as your District 6 County Commissioner on November 4.

     As a resident of Wayne County all my adult life, I am committed to making our county the best that it can be. I have the knowledge, dedication and courage to envision new opportunities for our county, to communicate openly with the public, and to display leadership in making decisions that are best for people. Together we can make Wayne County the best that it can be!

Monika Barkley named as Campaign Manager

Today, April 20, The Committee to Elect Joe Daughtery named

Monika Barkley as Campaign Manager. Monika has worked on numerous campaigns including Sheriff Carey Winders, Bob Dole, Elizabeth Dole, and many others. She brings a wealth of knowledge, organizational skills as well as enthusiasm to the campaign.

Joe Opposes the Walnut Creek ETJ

May 22nd- Joe Attends Organizational Meeting of Group opposing the establishment of a 1/2 mile Extra Territorial Jurisdiction for The Village of Walnut Creek. He speaks to the group encouraging them to obtain petition signatures and to attend the public hearing.

May 28th- Joe Attends the Public Hearing with approximately 500 other residents of Walnut Creek and surrounding area to voice his opposition to the establishment of a 1/2 mile ETJ for Walnut Creek. As a resident of Walnut Creek for over 20 years, he as the council "What Were You Thinking?". He urged the council to stop this action and restore peace and harmony with our neighbors rather than causing the ill-will from such a proposal.

Joe Urges Voters in District 6 to Vote No on the Sales Tax.

April 15th- Joe sent email throughout District 6 opposing the Sales Tax and stating why. (Click Here)

April 18th- Joe supports the Wharton Complaint to the Wayne County Board of Elections challenging the legality of Commissioners using taxpayers money to encourage support for the 1/4 cent sales tax referendum. (Click Here)

April 19th- Joe begins auto calls to District 6 urging voters to Vote NO on the 1/4 Cent Sales Tax Referendum.

April 23- Joe sends out emails outlining 6 reasons to Vote Against the Sales Tax Referendum.

January- February --Wayne County Republican Party has committee speaking to numerous citizens regarding their representation on the Board of Commissioners and formulating consensus on any challenge to current commissioner.

February 15, 2008--Wayne County Republican Party conducts poll in District 6 to gage the approval of Current Commissioner Democrat Jack Best.

February 21, 2008--Joe files at the Wayne County Board of Elections for election to the Board of Commissioners representing District 6.

Daughtery to challenge Best for Commission

Hoping to bring change to the Wayne County Board of Commissioners, Joe Daughtery has decided to run for the Republican nomination for the District 6 seat currently held by Democrat Jack Best. "I have decided to run for this seat after many days of careful thought and discussions with many residents in and out of the district," Daughtery, 57, said. "Although I consider Jack as a friend, I feel I can bring a more conservative voice and bring fresh ideas and perspective in finding solutions to the diverse challenges facing our county." Read more
